About Me
My name is Byron Fillingim. I am 20 years old and a junior here at South
Alabama. The reason I ended up at South is because of a scholarship I received
that only pays for classes at South Alabama. I was born on October 10, 1991 and
I have lived in Mobile my whole life. I attended high school at Mary G.
Montgomery. My mother passed away when I was nine years old, so I live at home
with my dad, three brothers, and one sister. My dad pastors a small church
located in Wilmer, Alabama.
A few things I enjoy doing are playing guitar and playing sports. I have
been playing guitar for about three years now and it is something I spend a
lot of time doing. Coming up as a child I played baseball, football, and
basketball. In high school I only played football and baseball. The reason I
want to enter the education field is to be a football and baseball coach some
day. I really enjoy these sports and working with students, helping them with
not only sports but life.
Randy Pausch
Before watching this film, I had no prior knowledge of Randy Pausch. After
watching this video, I learned that before you begin doing something you br /> should ask yourself, "Why am I doing this?" "Why will I succeed?" "What
happens if I dont succeed?" Mr. Pausch teaches not to just do things right, but
to do the right things. He also teaches that experience comes with time and
there is no short cut. Good judgement comes from experiemce and experience
comes from bad judgement. You can;t fake experience. Planning should be broken
down into different levels of time and broken down into parts. It is alright to
change plans but plans can't be changed if you don't have any. After planning,
do the hard things first.
